Infertility is the inability to conceive after a year of unprotected intercourse. Infertility affects 15 percent of the population, or about one of every six or seven couples.
Infertility can be caused by many different factors, including: Blocked or scarred fallopian tubes, Ovulatory problems, Endometriosis (growth of endometrial tissue outside of the uterus), Male factor infertility (abnormal semen analysis; low sperm count or motility) or Unexplained infertility (in 10 to 15% of infertile couples, the cause of infertility cannot be detected.)
